Her black trench coat swayed with each step down the lonesome black road.  It was an almost silent night in the abandoned mountain town, high above a bustling city with technologies to blow anyone's mind.  A city so oblivious to the dangers beyond, the monsters of their mind, the demons of their dreams.  The only sound was the soft scud of Tanya's boots, and the melancholy beats of "Black Cadillacs" escaping to the outside world beyond her headphones.  She was the only true human left in this ghost town.  The other inhabitants had a common trait with her though.  Like Tanya, they were the hunters, and the hunted.  Tanya had an advantage over them, she knew her situation, but they would soon learn theirs'.
She spotted a print in the snow-covered land she had known so well from her childhood.  The print was of no human, but of the kind of being she eliminates on sight.  The disfigured marking in the shining snow was created by a demon.  The chain wrapped around her shoulder rattled as she pulled the Black Hawk machine gun it was supporting, around to her front.  She paused to overlook her gloomy surroundings, and surveyed every movement she could see.  She was out to hunt demons tonight.  They were beginning to mass near the city's border, yet again.  The pale, full moon shone down on her shirt, and like a black light, it made the white lettering of her t-shirt glow.  "My teen angst has a body count".  A popular phrase, which hardly ever applies to the individual displaying it.  In this case, the fourteen-year-old was not guilty of false advertisement.
A shot was heard and that black light of a moon made the blood glisten on the newly fallen snow.  Tanya would not sleep at ease until all of the demons in the lonely town diminished from existence entirely.  She knew it would be impossible.  It was a lost cause, but it was so satisfying to seek revenge.  Nothing could ever make up for what the demons had done to her.  She leaned over the corpse, her pentacle pendant dangling before her, and she watched the demon sizzle into the blood spattered ground, never to be seen again.  She put her flowing brown hair behind her ears, repositioned the black-rimmed spectacles upon the bridge of her nose, and proudly walked off to the edge of the abandoned town to sleep another night away.

He awoke in his bed; startled, and realized it was unfortunately only a dream.  He longed for someone to understand his situation completely.  He needed someone, anyone, to hear his problems.  A person who would not stare at him in disbelief, but see his case through the same eyes.  He sat up and placed his headphones upon his ears.  It was still dark outside, so he decided to take a walk, for he wasn't going to be able to fall back asleep.  He climbed into his black Vans with red stitching and pulled himself into his long, black jacket.  His hooded sweatshirt glowed in the moonlight.  It had been custom made, with ancient runes of protection etched into the material with a permanent, white dye.  A hunter of evil beings of the night is in the right mind to have some sort of protection.  James was only sixteen years of age, but he had a great understanding of his surroundings and situation.  He knew his destiny, something many people could never know.  He was to fight off demons and prevent them from taking over.  James carried a major weight on his shoulders from this knowledge, but he supported it with pride.  His magnificent poetry reflected this gladly taken in burden, and the troubles of others.
The dark sky was a never-ending pit of wonder, full of hidden glories beyond his imagination.  The distant lights of the big city shone brightly in the night.  "Bother" rang out from his headphones in the almost silent night.  He saw something skitter across the ground and he lowered his headphones to his neck.  He thought he heard the wind whispering to him.  "I'm coming back" His mind had to be playing tricks on him.  He heard it again, and this time, the audible voice came with a picture.  Shock arose in James's face as he realized who was appearing in his mind.  He wondered how it was possible, as Zare had been defeated centuries ago.  James grasped his triple bladed knife tightly, and spun around slowly to look for anything that could be the cause of this voice.  He decided upon the theory that the voice was really there, calling to him, warning him of what was to come.  He knew he couldn't defeat Zare alone, he would have to find someone to help.

Tanya stirred in her sleep; something was visiting her in her dreams.  It seemed so familiar to her.  She woke up as soon as she realized what was happening.  Zare was back, and at least twice as powerful.  Tanya held her pendant to her quickly beating heart and knew what she had to do.  She had to go out of the town, and in the opposite direction of the city.  There was a small town nearby, and Tanya was convinced someone was there.  She just had a feeling in the pit of her gut that someone just had to be there to help her.  She laid her head back down to sleep, as her journey would begin the next day.
The rays of the sun glided over her face and she opened her eyes to be blinded by the light.  She stayed where she was for a few moments, going over exactly what she had to do.  She arose and rubbed her eyes.  Tanya stood up, stretched, and started her steadily paced walk toward the town she hoped to have her needs fulfilled within.  She shivered slightly in the cold air as she blared music into her soon-to-be numb ears.  She reached a high point of land and looked out over the land she was to walk over to reach the distant town.  It seemed to be a massive amount of ground to cover, but she knew she had only two choices, kill or die.  She clutched her Black Hawk and trudged down the steep hill toward the town.

James walked toward the edge of town as he envisioned the battle to come.  The only part missing in the visual was his partner.  Who was supposed to help him defeat Zare?  His feet splashed in the puddles made by the melted snow as he headed to the high point to overlook the hills.  What a beautiful view it was to him.  He loved to imagine what life would be like in the hills with no troubles.  He realized it wouldn't be satisfying to him though, for he enjoyed the adventure in his life.  It was a gift to have the courage to fight demons.  Out on the most distant hills, James saw a black speck slowly moving toward town.  He wondered what it was, but decided not to worry about it and enjoy the view.  That black dot was distracting him though.
Suddenly, the black dot stopped and a shot was heard.  The dot stayed in one place for a while, and after something that appeared to be smoke arose from the ground, the black dot continued to come closer to the town.
James heard footsteps behind him and he swiftly pivoted to see his rear surroundings.  Zare was sending his minions out already.  James scanned the area and spotted a demon.  He threw his blade with great skill and caught the monstrosity in its tracks.  It fell to the ground with a sickening thud.  Soon it sizzled into the ground leaving no proof of its existence.  He looked out over the hills once more, and the black dot had a human form.  That human was quickly moving toward town.

Tanya moved at a quicker, but still steady pace trying to reach the town by nightfall.  If Zare's minions were already out to get her, the she needed shelter of some sort.  One demon by itself was a simple feat, but if there were to be more, she couldn't handle it alone.  Her pace quickened a small bit as she saw the sun starting it's climb down from the sky.  Tonight could be the night Zare returns, and Tanya needed to be ready.  She had to get to the town, and fast so she could find someone.  She started running at her maximum speed.  Her boots easily gripped the snowy ground and she dashed toward the town that would have a partner for her.
~~~~~~~~~~
The human was a female!  She was running, and she looked beautiful to James.  By the looks of the distant view, she had long, dark hair, and wore clothes similar to the ones he was wearing.  She wasn't too far away, and as he looked toward the setting sun, he saw them.  Zare and his minions were coming together before the sun to attack.  Zare's massive, charred body rising high above his minions was a frightening sight, and it appeared the female saw this scene also for she stopped dead in her tracks for a moment.  He knew she wasn't going to make it to the town on time, so he leaped down the hill toward her.  He ran at full speed to protect her.  She gave him this feeling that she was going to be there for him, no matter what.  James found this strange to experience this emotion before they even said their first words to one another.
Tanya saw the figure bounding toward her and she wondered why he was coming.  She could hear his feet pounding the wet Earth as he ran at her.  She moved closer to him also, and when he finally reached her, he linked arms with her and dragged her toward the town.  Tanya was so exhausted; she did not care about him helping her.  Actually, she was very happy for the assistance.  "My name is James." he said.  He had a semi-deep voice, one of which rang with care as he spoke.  "What might your name be?"  She was so flabbergasted, she almost forgot her name. "Uh, Tanya." She felt like an idiot, but knew it was understood.
The demons grouped together and flew at extremely high speeds directly behind Tanya and James.  "I can run on my own now James." said Tanya and he put her down gently.  She automatically grabbed her Black Hawk from behind her and saw James staring in awe.  He pulled a blade out of his jacket with great precision.  The army of demons had grown since they last looked, and it was proving very intimidating.  The two of them ran up to the edge of the hill, and realized they would not have time to climb it to safety.  They turned their backs to the hillside and prepared to fight off anything that neared them.
Tanya reloaded her Black Hawk, and James opened his blade so all three blades were visible.  It could serve as a boomerang if he wanted it to, which could be very handy in some situations.  Zare flew his army toward the town, and didn't see them below him.  A shot rang out and the entire army glanced around to find the source.  Tanya had shot down two demons already, and the rest of them decided to go after her.  James, being as swift as he is, snuck past some of them and stabbed the demons from behind as they attempted to attack Tanya.  Shots rang out in the newly darkened sky and eventually, all of the army, except Zare lay splattered on the hillside.  "How dare you defeat my troops!  I congratulate you on your defeat, but now you must die before you can repeat what you saw." said Zare menacingly.  "If you actually think your pathetic guns and knives can defeat me, then you are most definitely the saddest creatures I have ever seen."  James and Tanya both knew what they had to do.  Without words, the two simultaneously dropped their weapons and bonded their minds.  They overwhelmed the centuries old demon with surprise and power.  He slowly fell to the cold, winter ground.  James and Tanya looked at each other, and thought the same thing, "Wow, that was weird."
~~~~~~~~~~
The two walked off toward the town they were unable to use as a shelter.  James and Tanya began comparing interests and skills.  They were very different, but extremely compatible.  The reassuring feelings they felt earlier on were very strange indeed, but not completely unexplained.  The two were glad to have experienced these emotions, for they both realized why they had occurred.  They were soul mates.  They had to be made for each other.  They were alike, yet different.  They were both talented at their job, and could work together at it.  The two walked all the way back to that lonesome mountain town Tanya hailed from to find it no longer inhabited by demons.  They had been destroyed, except for one.  Tanya had been transformed into a partial demon as a child, and that was the real reason she had become a demon hunter.  She wanted to seek revenge for what they had turned her into.  As for James, he was fully human, but after he was born, demons took most of his family away from him.  He also became a hunter in revenge.
To this day, one can still see the couple holding hands and overlooking the oblivious busy city below.  They look over it, and all of the other cities in the world.  They have to, they're international demon hunters out to protect innocent beings with no clue of the world beyond.  There will always be demons, everywhere and anytime.  One just has to know where to look.
I wrote this for English class....it's supposed to be a short story heh
